William J. Stewart
ROULETTE- William J. Stewart, 94, of Pomery Rd., passed away Wednesday (Jun. 23, 2021) in his home.
Born October 30, 1926, in Coudersport, he was a son of William N. and Ida Stewart. On Sept. 17, 1949, in Roulette, he married Arlene J. Roberts, who died July 31, 2000. They were married 50 years.
William was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of the Roulette High School, class of 1945.
He was employed several years with Ball Corp. of Port Allegany, retiring in 1992.
He was a veteran of WWII, having served with the US Army.
William was a former member of the Riverside Methodist Church of Roulette.
He enjoyed taking care of his lawn, washing his vehicles, and visiting the Daily Bread Restaurant.
Surviving is a son, Jeffrey A. Stewart of Port Allegany; 2 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Arlene, a daughter, Diane K. King, a grandson, Jordan King; a brother, George Stewart, and two sisters, Florence Stewart and Isola Roberts.
Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Sunday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday (Jun. 28, 2021) with Rev. Douglas Cameron, pastor of the Chestnut Street Baptist Church, Port Allegany, officiating. Burial will be in Rathbone Cemetery, Oswayo, PA.
