William J. Myers
SMETHPORT- William J. Myers, 89, of Valley Crossroads, passed away Saturday (Sept. 17, 2016) in the Bradford Regional Medical Center, after a brief illness.
Born October 17, 1926, in Alma WV, he was a son of Lawrence R. and Belva A. Gatrell Myers.  On May 21, 1960, in Bradford, he married Marjorie J. Murphy, who survives. They were married 56  years.
William was a graduate of Tyler County High School, Middlebourne, WV.
Mr. Myers had been employed by Dana & Adams Oil Field, Herzog Milling and C.L. McKeirnan, Inc., both of Smethport, Quaker State Refinery and Quaker State Pipeline Production, retiring in 1991 after 25 years of service.
He was a member of the Seneca Highlands Snowmobile Club and enjoyed snowmobiling, dirt track racing and hunting.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Marjorie, are three daughters, Colleen J. (Thomas) Nobles of Smethport, Lynne S. Flexman and Sherry K. (Patrick) Brooks both of Lancaster, PA; two grandsons: Kyle D. Nobles and David M. (Jami) Myers, Jr. both of Smethport, two granddaughters, Laura J. Angell of Smethport, and Dianna (Rodney) Swank of Bradford; 7 great-grandsons, and 3 great-grand-daughters; 1 great-great grandson; a sister, Reva C. Rosenberg of Erie, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, David M. Myers, who died Sept. 10, 1977, a brother, Robert Gene Myers; a sister, Doris I. Norton; and a niece, Debra Spiller.
Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday (Sept. 21, 2016) with Rev. Allen Young, pastor of the East Smethport United Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lewis Run.
