William J. Elliott
PORT ALLEGANY- William J. Elliott, 73, formerly of Lower Grimes Rd., passed away Thursday (July 14, 2016) at the home of his son, in Bradford, PA.
Born May 14, 1943 in Olean, NY, he was a son of William L. and Alice M. Grigsby Elliott.
Mr. Elliott had worked as head sawyer with Allegheny Hardwoods formerly in East Smethport, and later as a self-employed logger. He also worked for his brother at McDowell Sales and Service of Crosby, PA, before his retirement.
Surviving in addition to his mother, Alice Elliott of East Smethport, are a daughter, Carolyn M. Goodreau of Bradford; two sons, Nicholas L. (Diana) Elliott and Lawrence J. Elliott both of Bradford; 18 grandchildren; four brothers, Daniel L. Elliott of Smethport, Richard G. (Carol) Elliott of Hazel Hurst, PA, Timothy P. Elliott of Smethport, Jon “Jack” (Jane) Elliott of East Smethport; a sister, Melody L. McDowell of Waterloo, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, a son, William L. Elliott; a brother, Jerry L. Elliott; and a sister, Delores L. Elliott.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday (July 16, 2016) in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. with Rev. Randall Headley, pastor of the United Methodist Church, Port Allegany, officiating. Burial will be in Lewis Hill Cemetery, Port Allegany.
Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
