Wilfred V. HUANG, PhD, 63, of Alfred, NY, died Monday, March 14, 2022 in his home.
Born May 18, 1958, in Rangoon, Burma, he was the son of Peter T. and Sukee Chan Huang. On December 24, 1980, in Manhattan, he married the love of his life, Yenfen Iris Huang, who survives. A graduate of Rose Hill High School, Honk Kong, he continued his education at Purdue University and at Buffalo University where he earned his PhD in industrial engineering. Wil and Iris have lived in Alfred, NY for nearly 40 years and established a loving community. At Alfred University, he was Professor of Management Information Systems, Raymond Chair in Family Business, Director of the School of Business, and served as the Director of Confucius Institute.
Surviving besides his wife, Iris, are: his father, Peter Huang; his three children, Benjamin Laniakea of Palo Alto, CA, Vivian (Daniel) Taylor of Manalapan, NJ, and Samuel (Amanda) Huang of Portland, OR; three grandchildren; two brothers, Roger (Ying) Huang of South Bend, IL and Alfred (Vanessa) Huang of Fremont, CA; a sister, Virginia (Nick) Lee of Toronto; eight nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother.
