Vincent L. McANDREWS

Vincent L. McANDREWS, 97, formerly of Fulmer Valley Road, Wellsville, NY, died Saturday, January 12, 2019 in Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville.
Born January 16, 1921, in the Town of Ward, he was the son of George Patrick and Carrollotta Corwin McAndrew.
On May 20, 1978, he married the former Elsie Fanton Kervin, who predeceased him on June 29, 2017.
A graduate of Andover Central School, he was active in several sports, including the track team.
A World War II Veteran, he enlisted in the US Navy on August 29, 1942 and was honorably discharged on January 5, 1946 at the rank of First Class Petty Officer Motor Machinist's Mate Second Class.  During his naval service, he attended the Advanced Naval School Diesel in Richmond, VA after which he was assigned aboard USS LST-740.  He served in the South Pacific arena and was a combat veteran of several invasions, the last of which was the liberation of the Philippines at Leyte Gulf D-Day H-Hour and Luzon D-Day H-Hour.
He was employed by Sinclair Refining Co., Worthington/Turbodyne as a project engineer, and Eastman Kodak in Rochester.  After retiring from Kodak, he was employed on contract with Dresser-Rand until 1998.
He was a member of the Catholic faith, Wellsville Country Club, life member of the NRA, Morrison B. Hayes American Legion Post #702 in Wellsville, Masonic Lodge #230, and was a Shriner.  An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, boating, and hiking.
Surviving are:  a brother, James J. (Carolyn) McAndrew of Wellsville;  many nieces and nephews;  a step-son, Steven L. (Deborah) Kervin of Pavilion;  and a step-grandson, Christopher Kervin of Rochester.  In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by four brothers, George F. McAndrew, Louis R. McAndrew, Francis C. McAndrew, and Howard C. McAndrew;  a sister, Mary Elizabeth Hollenbeck;  and a half-brother, Edward Dougherty.
Friends may call Friday, January 18, 2019 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home, Wellsville, NY, where Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM.  Military Rites will be accorded in the funeral home by members of Morrison B. Hayes American Legion Post #702.  Burial will be in Stannards Cemetery.
