Veda “Dian” Lewis
PORT ALLEGANY-Veda “Dian” Lewis, 75, of Broad St., passed away Friday (Nov. 15, 2013) in the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA.
Born December 12, 1937, in Evanston, IL, she was a daughter of Charles and Helen Heck Boddy. On Feb. 10, 1973, in Des Plains, IL, she married Richard P. Lewis, who survives.
Mrs. Lewis graduated from the Amundsen High School, Chicago, IL, class of 1955.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Port Allegany, where she was church treasurer, Sunday school teacher, member of the choir and American Baptist Women. She was also an active member of the Star Hose Ladies Auxiliary.
She was a longtime resident of the area coming from Des Plains, IL.
Surviving in addition to her husband Richard, are four sons, Gary A. (Judy) Leschner of Port Allegany, Paul J. (Kathy) Leschner of Coolidge, AZ, John C. (Penny) Leschner of Denver, PA, Emery C. (Patti) Lewis of Bradford, two stepsons, Robert J. (Pam) Lewis of Baltimore, MD, and Randall T. Lewis of Bellingham, WA; a daughter, Kathleen D. LaGrange of Longwood, FL; 19 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, John C. Boddy.
Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Monday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 19, 2013) in the First Baptist Church, Port Allegany, with Rev. Michael Culver, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
