Stanley E. Major
PORT ALLEGANY- Stanley E. Major, 82, of Benton Ave., passed away Tuesday (Jun. 26, 2012) in his home.
Born September 30, 1929, in Austin, PA, he was a son of Harold and Delores Sheppard Major. On Aug. 25, 1951, he married Beatrice B. Young, who died Feb. 7, 1983.
He was employed with Pittsburgh Corning Co. of Port Allegany for 39 ½ years, retiring in January 1985.
He was a veteran having served with the US Navy.
He was a member of the Roulette Fish & Game Club, and a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 460, Port Allegany.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving are a son, Daniel C. Major of Port Allegany; a daughter, Diane L. (Robert) Earle of Keating Summit, PA; a granddaughter, Laurie Earle; a brother, Pete Major of Austin, and two sisters, Anna Mae Commino and Bonnie (Jerry) Kilcoin both of Port Allegany; special friend, Florence Fitzsimmons of Port Allegany, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Beatrice, two brothers, Donald Major and Dickie Major, and two sisters, Vivian Major and Lola Haynes.
Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where funeral services will be held Friday (Jun. 29, 2012) at 10 a.m. with Rev. Randall Headley, pastor of the United Methodist Church, Port Allegany, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
Memorials can be made to the Port Allegany Senior Center.
