Simon M. McCULLOUGH, 70, of Sabinsville, PA, died Sunday, August 8, 2021 in his home.
Born December 28, 1950, in Pike Township, he was the son of Kenneth H. and Addie K. Hitchcock McCullough. On October 19, 1974, in Ulysses, he married the former Donna L. Hillyard, who survives. A 1970 graduate of Galeton High School, Simon was a Vietnam Veteran, serving honorably with the U.S. Navy from 1970 — 1974. He was employed by nuclear power plants in PA, NJ, CT, and NY, and then by Dominion for 26 years, retiring in 2014. Simon was a member of Raymond Richar VFW Post #6611 in Galeton and Carl E. Hyde American Legion Post #963 in Ulysses. He served as caretaker of the Larrison Cemetery for many years.
Surviving besides his wife, Donna, are: two children, Daryl W. (Lisa) McCullough of Wellsboro and Melissa (Matthew) Chapman of Lillian, AL; three grandchildren, Benjamin McCullough, Isaac McCullough, and Abigail McCullough; four brothers, Kenneth (Linda) McCullough, Jr. of Biglersville, John McCullough of Galeton, Ralph (Susan) McCullough of Wellsboro, and John R. (Marcia) Fraser of Stony Creek, VA; four sisters, Sheila (Leland) Spicer of Whitesville, NY, Irene (Carl Schildkamp) Brumbach of Sabinsville, Virginia (Wayne) Burrous of Sabinsville, and Mildred F. Ovens of Petersburg, VA; nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, James L. McCullough; a sister, Shirley K. Brown; a nephew, Michael McCullough; niece, Molly Jean Fraser; brothers-in-law, Robert Ovens, Archie Brown, and Harlan Brumbach.
Friends may call Wednesday, August 11, 2021 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 PM at Olney-Foust Funeral Homes & Crematory, Ulysses, PA, where Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 1:00 PM. Rev. T.J. Freeman will officiate. Burial will be in Sabinsville Cemetery. Military Rites will be accorded by members of the Tioga County Honor Guard.
