PORT ALLEGANY- Scott E. Smith, 45, of Pine St., passed away Thursday (Dec. 8. 2011) in his home, with his family by his side.
Born December 26, 1965, in Erie, PA, he was a son of Welner and Patricia McFadden Smith.  On Oct. 2, 1995, in Humphrey, NY, he married Mara P. McAuley, who survives.
Mr. Smith was a correction officer at FCI McKean, Bradford, for 13 years, before having to retire.
He was a veteran having served in the US Navy.
He graduated from Salamanca High School, Class of 1984, and later graduated from Houghton College, Houghton, NY, with a Bachelor’s of Art in Business.
He was a resident of the area for 13 years and a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church of Port Allegany; and the Council of Prison Locals 3974, which he was a active member since 1995.
He was a full time father of five and enjoyed hiking and camping with his family. He enjoyed restoring vintage cars and motorcycles.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Mara and parents, Welner Smith of Salamanca and Patricia Smith of Cleveland, OH, are three sons, Max P. McAuley of Hohhot, China, Tibor J. Smith and Benen P. Smith both of Port Allegany; two daughters, Lorelei S. Smith and AngelaSkye M. Smith both of Port Allegany; three brothers, Shawn Smith of Cleveland, OH, Brian (Kathy) Smith of Roanoke, VA, Kevin (Gretchen) Smith of Scottsdale, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Monday (Dec. 12, 2011) in St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, with Rev. James Campbell, as celebrant.
Memorials can be made to the S.W. Smith Library building fund.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
