Samuel G. McMeekin
BOUND BROOK, NJ- Samuel G. McMeekin, 80, of E. Union Ave., passed away peacefully Monday (Mar. 3, 2014) at his home in Bound Brook, NJ.
Born February 6, 1934, in Niagara Falls, NY, he was a son of Samuel and Lena Dalrymple McMeekin. On July 26, 1968, in Alexandria, VA, he married Linda J. Cutting, who survives.
Samuel attended local schools, and the then worked as an audio visual specialist in the Niagara Falls school district. He worked many years at Rutgers University and was an independent electronics consultant prior to his retirement.
He was also a veteran, having served honorably with the US Army Signal Corps from 1956-58.
Mr. McMeekin had resided in New Jersey for 51 years, where he met his future wife, Linda Cutting, formerly of Smethport, PA. Sam and Linda enjoyed 45 years of love-filled married life.
He was a 50 year member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 988 of Bound Brook, NJ, where he attained the Pilgrim Degree of Merit. He enjoyed his ham radio, steam train rides, Civil War history and camping.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Linda, is a daughter, Karen A. McMeekin of Sumter, SC; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Robert and Thomas McMeekin; and two sisters, Olive Migliazzo and Margaret Fasanelli.
There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at a later time and date to be announced. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
