Ruth E. ORCUTT

Ruth E. ORCUTT, 93, formerly of North Fork and Westfield, PA, died Saturday, May 10, 2014 in Hill Haven, Webster, NY. Born June 18, 1920, in Potter Brook, PA, she was the daughter of William R. and Agnes M. Robbins Truax. On October 26, 1942, in Harrison Valley, PA, she married Harold W. Orcutt, who predeceased her on February 5, 1998. Mrs. Orcutt and her husband owned and operated a dairy farm for over forty years and she was employed by Sunderlin's Variety Store in Westfield for several years. Ruth was a member of the Harrison Township Firemen's Auxiliary from 1957 until moving to Westfield in 2001, serving as secretary for several years. An avid bowler, she was secretary/treasurer of the Westfield Thursday night "C" league in Westfield and secretary/treasurer of the Cowanesque Women's Bowling Association with which she bowled twice a week. A member of North Fork Grange #1193 for over 50 years, she served as treasurer and as chair of the Women's Activities Committee. She was a subordinate Pomona, State, and National Grange member. She was a member of the planning committee for all special occasions with primary responsibility of soliciting contributions. In addition, Ruth did the advertising for the many fundraising dinners to help support the North Fork Grange. For her many years of active participation, she was award The Granger of the Year Award in 1990. One job that gave her great joy was writing The Grange News as well as the North Fork local news for the Free Press-Courier and the Potter Enterprise for many years. Surviving are: a son, Robert W. Orcutt of Rochester, NY; a son-in-law, Stephen Feketi of Rochester, NY; two great-granddaughters, Kayla Pajek and Danielle Pajek; two sisters, Alberta (Herbert) Potter of Port Allegany, PA and Doris Metcalf of Milledgeville, GA; a brother-in-law, Donald Orcutt of East Smithfield, PA; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia A. Feketi, on July 13, 2004; and a granddaughter, Kimberly Feketi, on November 9, 2008. Friends may call at the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 from 12:00 - 2:00 PM, with Funeral Services following at 2:00 PM. Rev. Duane Burdick will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Potter Brook. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
