Robert I. Russell
PORT ALLEGANY- Robert I. Russell, 87, formerly of S. Ann St., passed away Saturday (July. 24, 2021) in the Northwest Community Hospital, Arlington Heights, IL.
Born December 22, 1933, in Coudersport, he was a son of Albert I. and Flora Quimby Russell. On Dec. 5, 1954, in Roulette, PA, he married Virginia M. Caulkins, who survives. They were married 66 years.
He was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of Port Allegany High School, class of 1952.
Robert was employed with Pittsburgh Corning Co. formerly of Port Allegany, for a few years, then several years with North Penn Gas Co., Port Allegany, retiring in 1995, as operations manager.
He was a member of the Potter Game Club of Roulette, former member of Indian Echo Country Club & Smethport Country Club, Potter County Penn. Special Olympics volunteer, member of the Roulette Fish & Game Club, Keating Sportsman’s Club, and life member of the National Rifle Association. He also a volunteer with the Roulette and Port Allegany Fire Departments.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Virginia, is a son, Terry D. (Nancy) Russell of Arlington Heights, IL; a grandson, Steven J. Russell of Chicago, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Lowell, Kenneth, and Nelson Russell, and a sister Louise Warren.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Friday (July 30, 2021) in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. with Rev. Douglas Cameron, pastor of the Chestnut Street Baptist Church, Port Allegany, officiating. Burial will be in Fishing Creek Cemetery, Roulette.
