Robert K. Pfeil
PORT ALLEGANY- Robert K. Pfeil, 88, of Greenview Ct., Indiana, PA, formerly of Broad St., passed away Sunday (Nov. 20, 2011) at his home, after a lengthy illness.
Born July 28, 1923, in Pittsburgh, PA, he was a son of John S. Gladys Campbell Pfeil. On Nov. 18, 1944, in Smethport, he married Harriet M. Herriman, who died Sept. 25, 1992. His second wife, Wilda Prushnok, died Mar. 13, 2011.
Robert was a longtime resident of the Port Allegany area and a graduate of Port Allegany High School, Class of 1941. He was also a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. He was a registered pharmacist for 55 years.
He joined his father and later his brother Bruce, in the family business, J.S. Pfeil & Sons Pharmacy in Port Allegany. He also served as a relief pharmacist in stores and hospitals throughout the area.
He was a veteran of WWII, having served with the US Army.
He was a member of the Pennsylvania Pharmaceutical Assoc-iation, National Association of Retail Druggists, longtime member of the Port Allegany Rotary Club and a lifetime member of the Liberty Lodge 505, F.& A.M., and Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 460, Port Allegany.
Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, tennis and golf, and loved the people of Port Allegany who he considered his extended family.
Surviving are a daughter, Dawn M. (Douglas) Keiper of Celebration, FL; several nieces and nephews; three stepsons, John Prushnok of Punxsutawney, Daniel Prushnok and David Prushnok both of Indiana, PA; and two stepdaughters, Kathy Burba and Christina Kelly both of Indiana, PA; and many close friends including, David Romance and Derek Switzer, along with his loving caregivers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, Harriet and Wilda, a son, John F. “Fred” Pfeil; three brothers, Dr. Russell W. Pfeil, Bruce K. Pfeil, and John "Jack" Pfeil.
Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Friday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 26, 2011) with the Rev. Joseph Smith of Indiana, PA, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
