Robert W. Leavitt
SMETHPORT-Robert W. Leavitt, 84, passed away Friday (Mar. 1, 2013) at his home, of an apparent heart attack.
Born March 14, 1928, in Emporium, PA, he was a son of William and Myrtle A. Smith Leavitt. In July 1949, in New York City, he married Lillian Richards, who died Apr. 30, 1960. On Oct. 5, 1962, in Red Bank, NJ, he married Wanita Manual, who died Feb. 9, 2003.
Mr. Leavitt was a security guard for the US Government, before his retirement.
He was a veteran having served with the US Army, during the Korean War.
He was a resident of the area since 2006, coming from North Carolina.
He attended Hilltop Baptist Church, Gifford, PA.
Surviving are a son, Wallace R. Leavitt of Superior, WI, a grandson and a granddaughter; a sister, Shirley Bailey of Tonawanda, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, Lillian and Wanita, and a sister, Ruth Bressan.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday (Mar. 5, 2013) in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. with Rev. Max Simms, pastor of the Hilltop Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
