Robert L. Brown
LOCKPORT, NY- Robert L. Brown, 87, passed away peacefully, Thursday (July 7, 2016) in Lockport, NY.
Born July 7, 1929 in Brookville, PA, he was a son of Norman and Violet Crawford Brown. On Sept. 2, 1962, in Port Allegany, he married Lois Eastman, who survives.
Robert was a graduate of Port Allegany High School and Lock Haven University, Lock Haven, PA.
Mr. Brown was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the US Army.
He was a highly respected high school chemistry teacher at Lockport High School, for 25 years where he was known for giving his students nicknames and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle to school. Robert retired from teaching in 1986, after 30 years of service.
Following his retirement from teaching, he worked at the Allie Brandt Lanes bowling alley and volunteered in his community.
He enjoyed bowling, fly-fishing and of course, riding his Harley, which he continued to do until he was 85.
Robert and his wife were members of the Lockport Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Lois, is a daughter, Leslie (Todd) Lardy of Boston, MA; a brother, Donald (Joann) Brown of Port Allegany; a brother-in-law, Lloyd (Dolores) Eastman of Port Allegany; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Kenneth and Dale Brown.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 11 a.m. Friday (Aug. 5, 2016) in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
A veteran’s service will be conducted by the Port Allegany Honor Guard, immediately following the service, at the funeral home.
