Robert J. Ballway
PORT ALLEGANY -Robert J. Ballway, 65, of E.Arnold Ave., passed away Monday (Jan. 8, 2018) in his home, after a lengthy illness.
Born December 17, 1952, in Syracuse, NY, he was a son of Robert C. and Marjorie Ventura Ballway.
Robert was a longtime resident of the area coming from Syracuse, NY. He was a graduate of Jamesville-Dewitt High School, graduate of University of Dayton, with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, and also a graduate of Syracuse University, with a MBA in Accounting and Information Systems.
Mr. Ballway worked as an accountant, a sales and design manager with Barden Homes, and most recently a teacher.
Robert was an avid home remodeler and accomplished musician. He could often be found singing or playing the Blues on his guitar, harmonica, trumpet, or keyboard and was always ready to teach others how to play a few bars.
He attended the Chestnut Street Baptist Church, Port Allegany.
Surviving are two sons, Christopher R. Ballway and Dennis G. Ballway both of Port Allegany; a daughter, Leslie M. Ballway (Matthew Herrmann) of Philadelphia; three sisters, Marjorie (Dr. David) Yeager of South Carolina, Lynn Loomis of Nevada, and Ginny (Robert) Quinn of Syracuse, NY; former wife, Eileen S. Ballway of Connecticut, Uncle James Ventura and Aunt Janet Early of Poughkeepsie, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Janet, and niece Jessica.
There will be no visitation. A celebration of life will be held at a later date and time to be announced.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
