Richard P. Blackman
PORT ALLEGANY- Richard P. Blackman, 90, of River Lane, formerly of Port Allegany, passed away Friday (Oct. 1, 2021) in UPMC Cole.
Born April 12, 1931, in Oil City, PA he was a son of George L. and Eleanor D. Robbins Blackman. On Dec. 2, 1950, in Port Allegany, He married Patricia J. Baker, who died Sept. 15, 1990.
Richard was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of Port Allegany High School, class of 1948.
He was employed first with R & R Ford Garage, in sales and later with Bidwell Chev-Olds Garage, both of Port Allegany, for many years; and most recently with Kightlinger.com, Coudersport, for over 20 years, before his retirement.
Richard was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 460, Port Allegany.
Surviving are two daughters, Patricia J. (Dennis) Bechtel of Port Allegany, Elizabeth L. (Richard) Slade of Eldred; two sons, Richard P. (Margaret) Blackman of Deland, FL, Perry J. (Judy) Blackman of Erie, PA; 9 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald Blackman of Ashboro, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Patricia, and longtime companion, Elizabeth VanBerger; and a sister, June L. Strang.
There will be no visitation or funeral service. A private graveside service will be held Wednesday (Oct. 6, 2021) in the Grimes Cemetery, Port Allegany, with Rev. J.T. Madison, pastor of the Evangelical Covenant Church, Port Allegany, officiating.
Memorials can be made to acharity of the donor’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
