ROULETTE- Rayburn A. Weimer, “Jaybird” 85, of West Branch Fishing Creek Rd., passed away Monday (July 23, 2012) in his home, with his family by his side.
Born March 8, 1927, in Port Allegany, he was a son of Rayburn A. and Marguerite Craw Weimer. On Feb. 9, 1951, in Port Allegany, he married Esther M. Manning, who survives.
He had been a self-employed farmer and logger, and had worked construction as a heavy equipment operator, having worked on the Kinzua Dam project. He also worked several years for the Pittsburgh Corning Co. of Port Allegany.
He was a veteran of WWII having served with the US Navy and the SeaBees battalion, San Francisco, CA.
He was a lifetime resident of the area and attended the Sartwell Creek Union Church, Burtville.
He was a member of the VFW Post 6391 and the American Legion Post 258, both of Port Allegany. He was a member of the Ohio and American National Bottle Association, and Buffalo Bottle Club. He was an avid bottle hunter and outdoorsman. He was awarded the Grand Slam of North American Big Horn Sheep.
Surviving besides his wife, Esther, are three sons, Russell C. (Sandy) Weimer of Allen, TX, Joseph L. (Rhoda) Weimer of Roulette, Ray O. (Lisa) Weimer of Ulysses; two daughters, Cheryl R. (Denis) Brown of Eldred, Linda M. Weimer of Roulette; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley M. Tucker of Roulette,  and a brother, Paul A. (Esther) Weimer of Anchorage, Alaska; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Ruth E. Weimer, a great-granddaughter, Abbie J. Oliver, and a brother, George Weimer.
Friends will be received from 10-11 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 4, 2012) in the Sartwell Creek Union Church, Burtville; at which time a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. LaVerne Howard, pastor, Rev. H.D. Youngblood, Jr. and Rev. Thomas Shatto co-officiating. Burial will be in Card Creek Cemetery, Roulette.
A military service will be conducted by the Port Allegany Honor Guard immediately following the funeral service.
Memorials can be made to the Austin, Port Allegany or Potter County Historical Societies.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
