Phyllis W. BECKHORN, 87, of Genesee, PA, died Wednesday, June 19, 2024 in her home.
Born March 1, 1937, in Harrison Valley, she was the daughter of Paul M. and Elva A. Van Pelt Walter. On June 29, 1957, in Mills, she married Virgil E. Beckhorn, who predeceased her on May 7, 1991. A 1955 graduate of Northern Potter High School, she studied at Hornell Business School from 1955 – 1957. She was employed as a secretary by the Northern Potter School District for 41 years. Phyllis was a member of the Ellisburg Union Wesleyan Church.
Surviving are: two children, Cheryl (Paul) Freeman of Ulysses and Thomas J. (Cindy) Beckhorn of Scottsville, NY; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a sister, Laverna Smyers of Genesee; her friend of 25 years, James Graham of Olean, NY; nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Gerald A. Walter.
Friends may call Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 3:00 – 5:00 PM at Olney-Foust Funeral Homes & Crematory, Ulysses, PA. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, June 24, 2024 in the Ellisburg Union Wesleyan Church, 2005 Ellisburg Road, Genesee, PA. Rev. Roy Ward will officiate. Burial will be in Genesee Cemetery.
