Phillip K. EMPSON, 71, of Ulysses, PA, died Friday, August 19, 2016 in his home.
Born October 23, 1944, in Ulysses, he was the son of Kenneth "Pete" and Sarah F. Hilfiger Empson.
A US Army Veteran, he served honorably from 1961 - 1964.
On February 29, 1964, in Harrison Valley, PA, he married the former Linda L. Collins, who survives.
Phil was a self-employed truck driver for several years. He was employed by a few area businesses, most recently by Destiny Transport. He was a member of Carl E. Hyde American Legion Post #963 in Ulysses and enjoyed flying his ultra-light and riding his Harley.
Surviving besides his wife, Linda, are: five children, David Empson of Ulysses, Dennis (Mel) Empson of Ulysses, Nancy Wick of Erie, PA, Barbara (Charlie Clark) Empson of Gold, and Bradley Empson of Coudersport, PA; 10 grandchildren; a brother, Joe (Mae) Empson of Ulysses; four sisters, Edna (Dorr) Perkins of Westfield, Ann Hemphill of Minot, ND, Marie (Dave) Cline of Wellsville, NY, and Maxine (William) Updyke of Genesee, PA; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Jane A. Empson; and a brother, John Hilfiger.
There will be no visitation or service. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
