Nevada M. Higley
PORT ALLEGANY- Nevada M. Higley, 89, of 29 Grant St., Duke Center, formerly of Higley Lane, passed away Monday (Apr. 13, 2015), in her home.
Born Aug. 2, 1925, in Greenwood, PA, she was a daughter of Theodore L. and Anna Eyer Shultz. On Jan. 19. 1984, she married Theodore H. Higley, who died May 15, 2011.
Mrs. Higley worked for the former Viko Furniture Co., Eldred, as a cook for Child Evangelical Fellowship, and later as a nurse’s aide with Sena Kean Manor, Smethport, before her retirement.
She was a longtime resident of the area and a graduate of Howard High School, Howard, PA, class of 1944.
Nevada attended the Sawyer Evangelical Church of Bradford,
was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons, and enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and crossword puzzles.
Surviving are four sons, Joseph E. Kisko, Anthony M. Kisko and Kim A. Kisko, all of Smethport, William H. (Teresa) Kisko of Mainesburg, PA; three daughters, Anna L. (Walter) DeHaven of Port Allegany, Barbara E. (Garry) Hoch of Duke Center, Melinda L. Teats of Smethport; 27 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley (Ernest) Young of Belfonte, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Harold G. and Ralph E. Shultz; and two sisters, E. Phyllis Szuba and Betty D. Cann.
There will be private visitation and funeral services held in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, with Rev. Brad Preston officating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
