Nancy K. Cornell
PORT ALLEGANY- Nancy K. Cornell, 75, of E. Arnold Ave., passed away Tuesday (July 26, 2016) in Sena Kean Manor, Smethport.
Born September 26, 1940, in Coudersport, she was a daughter of Clayton W. and Harriet L. Kilcoin McGee. On Apr. 26, 1958, in Olean, NY, she married Fred M. Cornell, who survives.
Nancy was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of the Port Allegany High School, class of 1958.
Mrs. Cornell had been employed by the former Elliott’s Bakery & Deli, Port Allegany, was cafeteria manager for the Hazelhurst Elementary School, and most recently, worked in the S.W. Smith Library, Port Allegany, before her retirement.
She was a member of the First Church of God, Eldred, where she provided many crafts for their church sales, a former member & Sunday school teacher with the United Methodist Church, Port Allegany; girl scout leader for several years, member of the Port Allegany Women’s Club, was an avid reader, cook and baker, but her biggest joy was her family.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Fred, are two sons, Scott M. (Candace) Cornell of Port Allegany, Kirk F. Cornell of Fairfax, VA; a daughter, Christine A. (Larry) Allison of New Castle, PA; five grandchildren: Victoria L. Allison, Carrie J. Lee, Christie J. Pruim, Cassie J. Kazimer, and Corey S. Cornell; four great-grandchildren: Gunnar J. McGraw, Trace J. and Cadence J. Kazimer, and Corwin S. Cornell; and two sisters, Bonnie J. (George) Connor, of Bradford, Carolyn S. (Gordon) Chase of Williamsburg, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Thursday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany. A funeral service will be held at 11 am. Friday (July 29, 2016) in the First Church of God, Eldred, with Rev. James Kazimer, pastor officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
