M. Vivian Switzer
PORT ALLEGANY- M. Vivian Switzer, 90, of Willow Street, passed away Tuesday (Nov. 1, 2016) in Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport.
Born March 1, 1926, in Mifflintown, PA, she was a daughter of Charles R. and Mildred Ernest Gaul. On Jan, 24, 1948, in Mifflintown, she married Frank W. Switzer, who died Feb. 11, 2015. They were married 67 years.
Vivian was a graduate of the Juniata High School, Mifflintown, class of 1944.
She had been employed with Pierce Glass Co. and later the Port Allegany High School as a secretary, before her retirement.
She was a longtime resident of the area and a member of the United Methodist Church and the Women’s Club both of Port Allegany, and former member of the Smethport Country Club and its Couples League. She also a member of the former Myrtle Chapter of OES, Port Allegany, and current member of Keystone Chapter #2, Duke Center. She enjoyed playing bridge especially with Friends of the S.W. Smith Library bridge group.
Surviving are a son, Frank W. (Pamela) Switzer, Jr. of Port Allegany; a daughter, Marsha V. Jordan of Mishawaka, IN; three grandchildren, Derek (Sara) Switzer of Macon, GA, Brian (Jenna) Switzer of Erie, PA, Stacey Donica of Mishawaka, IN; and four great-grandchildren, Angelina Jordan, Mya Donica, Claire and Mae Vivian Switzer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank, a son-in-law Wayne L. Jordan, and four brothers: Richard E. Gaul, Joseph W. Gaul, Rev. Benjamin Gaul, and Charles R. Gaul.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 6, 2016) with Rev. Michael Culver and Rev. Randall Headley co-officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
