Muriel E. SHINN

Muriel E. SHINN, 78, of Ulysses, PA, died Monday, April 8, 2013 in her home. Born September 8, 1934, in Niagara Falls, NY and raised in Lockport, NY, she was the daughter of Frank and Elsie Carter Tillotson. On October 9, 1952, in Fort Benning, GA, she married Leo B. Shinn, who survives. She was employed by Cole Memorial Hospital in Coudersport as a nurse's aide in extended care form 1969-1976. Muriel was a member of the Ulysses United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and TOPS. Surviving are: her husband, Col. Leo B. Shinn, USMC Retired; a son, Leo (Lisa) Shinn, Jr. of Jeannette, PA; a daughter, Lee Anne (Michael) Guryn of Ulysses; a daughter-in-law, Laura Shinn of Port Charlotte, FL; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; a brother, Frederick M. Tillotson of Syracuse, NY; a sister, Helen Wandell of Vero Beach, FL; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceaseed by a son, William F. Shinn on March 31, 2013; a brother, James Tillotson; and a sister, Frances Tillotson. Friends may call at the Ulysses United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 13, 2013 from 1:00 - 2:00 PM, with Funeral Services following at 2:00 PM. Rev. Deborah L. Watkins will officiate. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to David A. Howe Library, 155 North Main St., Wellsville, NY 14895.
