Mike was larger than life in all meanings of stature. Every accomplishment in his professional and personal life was done to the maximum. His knowledge and wisdom in every aspect of his life impacted anyone who knew him. The size of his heart was unmeasurable and to be loved by him was the greatest gift. Every choice he made advancing through life was inclusive to benefiting his family. He had a passion for his career and believed in always pushing the limit. The love he gave is his eternal gift.
A proud member of Laborers International Union since 1975, Mike started working for his father’s caisson company, H&M Foundations, at age 18. In 1986, his parents started North East Caissons (NEC), where he spent his career traveling the east coast drilling and pouring caissons. In 1992, his parents stepped down and Mike and his brother, Peter, took over the company. In early 2006, NEC dissolved and he took a job as Superintendent for Aldridge Electric based out of Illinois, running federal infrastructure projects across the east coast.
An avid lover of all things motorized and speed, he raced through the streets of Williamsville at a young age leading to a career at Lancaster speedway winning many races with help from his best friend, Gary “Woofer” Stone, his brother, and others. Over the years he had many muscle cars and motorcycles.
Australia, St. Thomas, and Diamond Head Resort on Fort Myers Beach each held special places in his heart. He was an avid reader and self-proclaimed chef. His passion showed through his knowledge and delicious meals he passed down to his family. Family dinners, trips and gatherings were where he was at ease and filled with joy. He played Santa for many years and his grandchildren never knew it was him because of the magic he possessed. His love for his wife, Laurie, and his children was abundant. In every encounter, large or small, his love was felt.
