Michael A. GARNETT, 67, of Ulysses, PA, died Sunday, December 26, 2021 in UPMC Cole, Coudersport.
Born February 19, 1954, in Monte Vista, CO, he was the son of Dean Chapman and Dorothy Burton Garnett. Michael attended school in Monte Vista and two years at college in Greeley CO. He taught classes in Monte Vista and delivered medical supplies to rural customers in the county. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hiking, and hunting in the mountains in Colorado. He also liked playing baseball with friends and earned the nickname “Bear.” It was earned by the sight of him charging down the baseline toward home base. When he later moved to Ulysses, he was confined to an electric wheelchair due to MS, but that did not stop him from motoring around town and often parking in a spot where he could watch deer and other wildlife.
Mike was a big man, but never was there a more gentle and loving soul. He will be sorely missed by his surviving brother, Jim Garnett of Bellingham, WA; eight nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Dorothy; and brother, Don.
Services will be private.
Memorials may be made to Ulysses Library, P.O. Box 316, Ulysses, PA 16948.
