Mary Lou McElwee
PORT ALLEGANY- Mary Lou McElwee, 80, of Ransom St., passed away Tuesday (Aug. 15, 2017) in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport.
Born April 20, 1937, in Sharon Center, PA, she was a daughter of Leon and Laura E. Bailey VanZile.
She was a longtime resident of the area and a graduate of Olean High School, class of 1955.
Mary Lou enjoyed crocheting and reading; and dedicating her time to Jesus.
Surviving are four sons, Patrick M. (Brenda) McElwee and John R. (Phyllis) McElwee both of Port Allegany, Thom (Tammy) Bates of Industry, PA, Edward P. McElwee of Lewis Run; two daughters, Sara E. (Randy) Wilson of Emporium, Beth Ann McElwee of Port Allegany; 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, a brother, James (Denise) VanZile of Pique, OH; three sisters, Patricia Stokes of Olean, NY, Katherine Heaton of Flowermound, TX, Dorotha (Rick) Putnam of Reading, CA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Tara Kellner.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 19, 2017) in the Evangelical Covenant Church, Port Allegany, with Rev. James VanZile, officiating.
Memorials can be made to the S.W. Smith Library, 201 E. Maple St., Port Allegany.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
