Belmont, NY - Mary Elizabeth (Salis) Pasquale, 87, a long time resident of 31 Willard Street passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the Wellsville Manor Care Center with her loving family at her side. She was Born April 25, 1925 and adopted from Father Bakers Home for Children in Buffalo, NY on May 2, 1925. She lived and grew up with her Parents, Sabastiano and Isabella Salis in Hornell N.Y. She attended St. Ann's R.C.C. and Catholic School. She Graduated from Hornell High School in 1945. She then attended Rochester School of Commerce in Rochester, NY where she attained an education as a professional secretary on 1946. She worked for a period of time as a secretary at the Hornell Evening Tribune News Paper. On 1949 she married the love of her life, Francis (Frank) W. Pasquale Sr. who predeceased her in 1973. At this time she began her residence in Belmont, NY where she shared co-ownership of a restaurante known as, "Frank's Sugar Bowl." She was known by many of the kids in Belmont who frequented the Sugar bowl and shared many memories with the people of her community also through the business. The women would gather and crochet or knit while the men would chat as men do over many topics.

She was also blessed with four Children, Francis W. (Mary) Pasquale Jr., of Belmont, Gary R. (Jill) Pasquale, of Corvallis, MT, Michael G. Pasquale, who predeceased her on August 8, 2008 and Patty P. (Glen) Cline, Scio, NY, eight Grandchildren Francis "Chip" W. Pasquale III, David, M. Pasquale (Deceased), Catrina N Noniewicz, Tia M. Grooms, Paula J. Markewicz, Kristofer S. Pasquale, Casey L. Cline and Kallie R. Woods. She was also blessed with Twelve Great-Grandchildren. There are many nieces and nephews, a brother-in-law, two sister-in-laws, and numerous cousins that have been loved greatly in her life.

Mary was a very dedicated Mother and her family was the most important thing which she cherished in this life. She enjoyed crocheting Afghans, and sweaters. She enjoyed the many family picnics at Stony brook state park, Trips to visit her son and family in both Alaska and Montana. Her trips in later years to Harrison Valley state park, PA. (Little Grand Canyon of the East) to leaf peep the many colors of nature with her son Frank were charished each fall. Mary also enjoyed within her life the Many Seniors bus trips that she shared with treasured Friends Sharon Canfield and Margaret McNinch, both residing in Belmont. She was an avid bowler and member of the Belmont ladies bowling league for many years. She also was a lifelong member of St. Mary's R.C.C. (Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph Parish) Altar Society. She also taught religious education within her church for 35 years. She was a Teachers Aid at both Belmont Central and Scio Central School working with another charished friend Mary Benz, through the Allegany County BOCES Grandmothers program. She was a special Grandma to many children in Allegany County through this program. Mary was a founding parent of the Allegany ARC and enjoyed being fully involved in its development and all activities that took place though this organization during her life time.

Mary was also a resident of the Manor Hills Adult Care Facility in Wellsville, NY and memorial donations could be made to their Activities Department or to the Allegany County ARC. Friends are invited to call on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Belmont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 10:00 am in Holy Family Church in Belmont concelebrated by Rev. Sean DiMaria and Rev. Thomas Roman.
