Marjorie Nelson Berwaldt
PORT ALLEGANY- Marjorie Berwaldt, 86, of School House Rd., Danville, PA, formerly of Tonawanda, NY and Port Allegany, passed away Sunday (Dec. 23, 2012) in the Emmanuel Nursing Center, Danville.
Born January 4, 1926, in Sabinsville, PA, she was a daughter of Fred and Mirenda Schott Benn. In 1946, in Wellsville, NY, she married George A. Nelson, who died Mar. 20, 1987. On May 25, 1996, in North Tonawanda, NY, she married Gustav R. Berwaldt, who died Jun. 1, 2009.
Mrs. Berwaldt had owned and operated a daycare center, before her retirement.
She was a member of a non-denominational church for many years.
Surviving are two sons, Daniel L. (Venetta) Nelson of Rochester, NY, Robert G. Nelson of Polk, PA; three daughters, Sara (Richard) Wojcik of Tonawanda, NY, and Deborah Hults of Danville, PA, Cheryl McKerrow of Tonawanda, NY; 9 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Carlson of Galeton, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, George Nelson and Gustav Berwaldt; two brothers, John Benn and Fred Benn, Jr.; and a sister, Florence Doyle.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday (Dec. 28, 2012) with Robert Flippo and Delmar Stockwell co-officiating, Burial will be in Portage Valley Cemetery, Wrights.
