Marjorie J. Myers
SMETHPORT- Marjorie J. Myers, 80, of Valley Crossroads, passed away Tuesday (May 9, 2017) in her home, surrounded by her family.
Born June 29, 1936, in Olean, NY, she was a daughter of Arthur E. and Ruth Garthwaite Murphy. On May 21, 1960, in Bradford, she married William J. Myers, who died Sept. 17, 2016.
Marjorie was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of Allegany Valley Joint High School, Eldred, class of 1954.
She had worked as a secretary for Glenn Mencer, attorney, Eldred, bank teller for the First National Bank of Port Allegany, and most recent with the former Nobles Greenhouse of Smethport, before retiring.
She was a member of the Seneca Highlands Snowmobile Club, where she had been secretary/treasurer; McKean County Historical Society, and Keystone Tall Tree Girl Scouts of Smethport.
Surviving are three daughters, Colleen J. (Thomas) Nobles and Lynne S. Flexman both of Smethport, Sherry K. (Patrick) Brooks of Lancaster, PA; two grandsons: Kyle Nobles and David M. (Jami) Myers, Jr. both of Smethport; two granddaughters: Laura J. Angell of Smethport, and Dianna (Rodney) Swank of Bradford; 6 great-grandsons, and 2 great-granddaughters, a great-great granddaughter; a sister, Marietta LoVecchio of Horseheads, NY; a daughter-in-law, Shirley (Dick) Wineberg of Smethport; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William, a son, David M. Myers, a brother-in-law, William LoVecchio, a niece, Debra Spiller and a nephew, Larry B. Norton.
Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday (May 12, 2017) with Rev. Max Simms, pastor of the Hilltop Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lewis Run.
Memorials can be made to the McKean County Historical Society or McKean County Hospice.
