PORT ALLEGANY- Marilyn E. Dibble, 53, formerly of Port Allegany, passed away Tuesday (Jun. 14, 2016, in Presque Isle Rehab & Nursing Facility, Erie, PA, after a lifelong battle with Friedreich’s Ataxia.
Born October 16, 1962, in Port Allegany, she was a daughter of Merle E. and Mary Brodie Dibble.
Ms. Dibble had been employed by Voices for Independence, Erie, PA, as a peer counselor, in the Port Allegany area.
Marilyn was a longtime resident of the area and a graduate of Port Allegany High School, class of 1980, and attended Edinboro University, and graduated from University of Pittsburgh, Bradford, with a BA Degree in Human Relations.
She had attended Chestnut Street Baptist Church of Port Allegany, and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church of Erie, PA.
Ms. Dibble was an advocate for handicap individuals, enjoyed her church, was an avid reader, loved animals, loved the outdoors, especially four wheeling, and enjoyed horseback riding with the Elusive Riders of Smethport.
Surviving in addition to her father, Merle, is a sister, Melody E. (Ronald) French, of Port Allegany; two brothers, Melvin E. (Denise) Dibble of Smethport, Michael E. (Jodi) Dibble of Port Allegany; and several nieces and nephews; and a great nephew, Carter Stehle.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary.
Friends will be received from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday (Jun. 18, 2016) in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. with Rev. Steve Heath, pastor of the Smethport Alliance Church officiating.  Burial will be in Annin Creek Cemetery, Turtlepoint.
Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
