Marie W. CASS

Marie W. CASS, 100, formerly of Ulysses, PA, died Sunday, September 4, 2022 in Clemson Downs, Clemson, SC.  

Born October 23, 1921, in Germania, she was the daughter of Fred and Elizabeth Roth Winkelman.  On January 18, 1947, in Ulysses, she married Herbert L. Cass, who predeceased her on October 3, 2006.  A graduate of Galeton High School and Lock Haven State Teachers College, she taught third grade, physical education, and health at Coudersport for six years and health and physical education at Northern Potter for 27 years, retiring in 1983.  She was a member of Carl E. Hyde American Legion Post #963 Auxiliary in Ulysses, Tri-Town Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary, Ulysses Library Board of Trustees, Order of the Eastern Star #95 in Ulysses, NEA, PSEA, and the Retired Teachers Association.  Marie attended the First Baptist Church of Ulysses.  

Surviving are:  a daughter, Marilyn (Bruce) Miehle of Seneca, SC;  two grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian Aubin) Miehle and Jason (Lindsey) Miehle;  a great-grandson, Cooper Miehle;  nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Betty Fowler and Dorothy J. Winkelman;  and four brothers, Ernest S. Winkelman, Frederick Winkelman, Jacob Winkelman, and John Winkelman.  

Friends may call at Olney-Foust Funeral Homes & Crematory, Ulysses, PA on Saturday, September 24, 2022 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, with Funeral Services following at 11:00 AM.  Rev. John Lucas and Rev. Timothy H. Miller will co-officiate.  Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery.
