Lorraine M. "Lori" JOHN

Lorraine Grace “Lori” JOHN, 97, of Port Allegany, PA, died Thursday, March 13, 2025 in her home. 

Born July 23, 1927, in Creswell, OR, she was the daughter of Wilber Daniel and Ferne Powers McLaughlin. She attended schools in Santa Ana, CA and St. Louis, MO. She was employed as a bookkeeper and accountant in a CPA’s office and for several corporations in California. She also had her own bookkeeping service for many years. 

Lori was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Olean, NY, Port Allegany Women’s Club, Port Allegany Garden Club, Port Allegany Council of Republican Women, and the Glamour Gatorettes Red Hat Society. 

Lori will be forever remembered by her dear friends Brian and Karen, who were constantly inspired by her wit, intelligence, and independent spirit. They admired her deep gratitude for even the smallest gestures of kindness, and her heartfelt reminder in her final moments that to truly receive love, one must also give it freely. She found endless delight in the enchanting world of Harry Potter and shared an unbreakable bond with her beloved cat, Chi Chi. Her unwavering resilience and determination were matched only by her grace, humor, and vibrant spirit. Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and boundless strength, lighting the way for all who knew her. 

She was predeceased by her parents and had no children. She had many cousins through her father’s family. 

A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 18, 2025 in Lymansville Cemetery, Coudersport.
