Lois E. BALCOM, 82, of Wellsville, NY, died Thursday, October 10, 2024 in her home. 

Born April 27, 1942, in Dansville, she was the daughter of Ruth I. George. On September 26, 1959, in Scottsburg, she married James E. Balcom, who predeceased her on August 16, 2003. She was employed as an office manager by various companies through the years. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, spending time with her family, and vacationing when she could. She had a deep love for her pets. 

Surviving are: two daughters, Jacinda “Cyndi” (Tracy) Preston of Wellsville and Debora (Ralph) Polzella of Chelsea, ME; two grandsons, James (Jennifer) Balcom of North Pole, AK and William Polzella of Chelsesa, ME; a granddaughter, Rebecca (Thomas) Seaton of NH; six great-grandchildren, Valerie, Sophia, Emilia, Kaylynn, James, and Lois; two siblings, Lowell (Gretchen) George of Dansville and Linda Mensinger of Scottsburg; a sister-in-law, Linda George of Eatontown, NJ; nieces and nephews. In addition to her mother and husband, she was predeceased by two sons, William G. Balcom and Marvin K. James; her life companion, Donald P. Martin; and a very special uncle, Raymond MacWhorter. 

Cremation was at OLNEY-FOUST Private Crematory. 

A graveside service will be held 1:00 PM Friday, October 18, 2024 in Maple Grove Cemetery, Friendship, NY.  Rev. Richard Roberts will officiate. 

Memorials may be made to the Allegany County Trap, Neuter, Return, serving the Village of Wellsville.
