Leland A. "Pete" CARY

Leland A. "Pete" CARY, 91, formerly of Harrison Valley, PA, died March 10, 2014 in Virginia Beach, VA. Born May 22, 1922, in Harrison Township, he was the son of Stephen and Margery Spoor Cary. A World War II Veteran, he served honorably with U.S. Marine Corps, First Marine Division in the Pacific Theatre. On October 30, 1945, in Whitesville, NY, he married the former Willa May Parsons, who predeceased him on November 21, 2010. He was employed as a deputy game warden and was a member of the VFW and Eastern Milk Producers Association. Pete was an avid hunter and fisherman. Surviving are: four daughters, Willa Jean (Ken) Lambert of Ulysses, Judy Metcalf and companion Ron Loeser of Wellsboro, Carol (Frank) Brezowski, and Debra Jo (Clyde Sr.) Seeley of Virginia Beach; a daughter-in-law, Margaret "Peg" Cary of Pikeville, NC; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Gerald (Janet) Cary of Harrison Valley; a sister, Emily "Jeanie" Pfuntner of Charleston, SC; a brother-in-law, Ivan L. "Ike" Kibbe, Jr. of Harrrison Valley; nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by two sons, David "Bud" Cary and Merle E. "Mike" Cary; a son-in-law, John Metcalf; and two sisters, Jennie C. Kibbe and Maude C. Reed. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 5, 2014 in the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA. The Rev. David Brelo will officiate. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery.
