Larry “Mike” Sherwood
ELDRED- Larry “Mike” Sherwood, 62, of Newell Creek Rd., passed away Wednesday (Jun 15, 2016) in his home, after a brief illness.
Born March 17, 1954, in Port Allegany, he was a son of Joseph O. and Ruby Haynes Sherwood. On May 7, 1982, in Eldred, he married Gladys Fuller, who survives.
Larry worked for Cutco Cutlery Co. for 37 years, retiring in December 2015.
Mr. Sherwood was a veteran having served with the US Air Force, during the Vietnam War, between 1972-74.
He was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of the Otto-Eldred High School, class of 1972.
Larry was avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting, but most of all spending time with his family.
Surviving are two sons, Ken R. Sherwood of Eldred, and Robert M. Tubbs of Bradford, PA; a daughter, Faye E. (Dave Ellis) Tubbs of Clifton Springs, NY; five grandchildren: Bradley (Mary) Tubbs, Cassandra and Nathan Ellis, Joseph and Elisha Rossman; 4 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Robert O. (Lilo) Sherwood of Highland, CA, John D. “Buck” (Iva) Sherwood of Wellington, OH, Delaney D. (Cathy) Sherwood and Gary L. (Deb) Sherwood both of Eldred; two sisters, Alice (John) Chesebro of Smethport, Ann (Kevin) Kinnaird of Salamanca, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Christian Carpenter, and a sister Amber Saelens.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
