Larry W. Safford

PORT ALLEGANY- Larry W. Safford, 76, of Wildwood Dr., passed away Friday (Mar.1, 2024) in UPMC Cole, Coudersport.

Born September 4, 1947, he was a son of Victor C. and Joyce M. Lilly Safford.

Larry was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of Otto-Eldred High School, class of 1967.

He was employed with Verallia Co. (formerly Pierce Glass Co.) of Port Allegany, retiring Jan. 11, 2011, after 40 years of service.

Larry was a veteran, having served with the US Army, during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by three nieces: Jennifer Safford and Vicki (Jim) Borowsky both of Port Allegany, Tara (Nathan) Stake of Texas; three nephews: Jason Babola of Bradford, Clay Tronetti of Smethport, and Stacy Cochran of Texas; and a sister-in-law, Wanda Safford of Port Allegany.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Charles V. Safford and Leslie L. VanGorder; two sisters, Linda K. VanGorder Babola and Marsha Safford, and a nephew, Barry Cochran.

At Larry’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service.

Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
