PORT ALLEGANY- Julia K. Reitz, 86, of Copeland Oaks Retirement Community, Sebring Ohio, formerly of Port Allegany PA, passed away Thursday December 2, 2021, at Crandall Medical Center in Sebring OH, after a battle with Cancer.
Born August 30, 1935, in Brookville, PA, she was the daughter of Alexander and Bernadine Lyle Kraus. On November 23, 1957, in Brookville, PA, she married Richard Reitz, who died March 30, 1974.
Julia was a local resident for several years, coming from Brookville, PA.
She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Sebring, Ohio.
She was a graduate of Brookville High School, class of 1953 and attended St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing, New York, NY.
Julia was Assistant Director of Nursing, Port Allegany Community Hospital, Emergency Department Supervisor at Bradford Regional Medical Center and later, Plano, Texas Emergency Department. She was a former Director of Nursing for Elk Regional Medical Center, Ridgway, Community Nurses, Executive Director, and St. Mary's Community Nurses, President & CEO. She was Executive Director of St. Mary's Area United Way, and member of Lions International.
Surviving are two sons, Steve (Sharleen) Reitz of Marble Falls, TX, Greg (Cathy) Reitz of Saratoga Springs, NY, two daughters, Elizabeth Reitz of Houston, TX, Susan Reitz Columbiana, OH; five grandchildren: Lindsey Smith, Garrett and Cody Reitz, Katie Coffey, Matthew Reitz and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, three brothers and one sister.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday January 21st in St. Ann Catholic Church, Sebring, OH.
A private graveside service will be held in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany, at the convenience of the family.
