Judy A. Wennerstrom
PORT ALLEGANY- Judy A. Wennerstrom, 73, of Route 6, passed away Monday (Jan. 14, 2013) in the Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born October 25, 1939, in Port Allegany, she was a daughter of Neil and Louella Abbott McKervey. On Apr. 16, 1958, in New Paltz, NY, she married Richard C. “Ponch” Wennerstrom, who survives.
Mrs. Wennerstrom had worked for Pierce Glass Co. and later with Stan’s Quality Shop both of Port Allegany.
She was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of the Port Allegany High School, Class of 1957.
She was a member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church of Port Allegany. She loved crafting, gardening, and most of all, time with her grandchildren. Both Judy and Ponch enjoyed visiting Kersey PA, to listen to country western music.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Richard, are two sons, Michael J. Wennerstrom of Mt. Jewett, Scott A. (Karen) Wennerstrom of Plano, TX; a daughter, Julie A. (Tom) Jeffers of Austin; seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren; two brothers, Gary “Bunk” (Peg) McKervey of Port Allegany, Kenneth McKervey of Witchata, KS; and a sister, Joy (Jim) Barr of Roulette; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Nancy Davis Simar of Port Allegany.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday (Jan. 18, 2013) with Rev. Lawrence Scofield, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
