Joseph D. WATSON

January 27, 1939 — March 16, 2018

Joseph Damon WATSON, 79, of Austin PA, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle was called home on March 16, 2018 after a valiant and good fight.  He is now surrounded by God's glory, his parents Evon H. and Marion Hamilton Watson, his sisters, Virginia Harvey and Lena Ludwig, and his brothers, James, Lawrence, and Paul.  There has been dancing and rejoicing in heaven since!
Joe met the love of his life, Priscilla Ann Harmon, in October 1963, proposed to her on St. Patrick's Day and married her April 19, 1964 in the Oswayo EUB Church.  They have two sons, Larry (Kim) Watson and Andy (Michelle) Watson, six grandchildren, Savanna, Leia, Mariessa, Garrett, Meranda, and Chris.  He will also be deeply missed by his sister, Helen Reed and his brother Clayton (Shirley) Watson, a great number of nieces and nephews, and dear friends and neighbors.
Joe was born in the Prouty on January 27, 1939 and called it home all his 79 years.  He attended the one room schoolhouse in Borie and graduated with the great class of 1957 from Coudersport High School.  He was a hard worker and over the years worked the family dairy farm, was a logger, a home builder and only retired begrudgingly due to Parkinson's after many years of working with his family at the mill in Ulysses!
He was baptized at the United Brethren Church of Prouty.  He was a Sunday school and youth leader for many years at the Prouty United Methodist Church, and for the last 35 years has worshiped God with his church family at the Austin United Methodist Church.
His true passion was time spent with friends and family.  He also enjoyed operating farm tractors, dozers, backhoes and log loaders.  He lived his retirement on his customized Kabota and enjoy time tending his garden.
Join us in celebrating his life!  Friends may call at the Austin United Methodist Church on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 from 9:30 - 11:00 AM, with Funeral Services following at 11:00 AM.  A luncheon and time of fellowship will follow in the Austin Fire Hall.  Burial will be in the Summit Cemetery on a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Austin United Methodist Church, 26 Turner St., Austin, PA 16720.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA.
