Joseph P. Slaugenhaupt, Sr.
PORT ALLEGANY- Joseph P. Slaugenhaupt, Sr., 66, of 31 ½ W. Mill St. passed away Friday (Oct. 26, 2012) in his home, after a lengthy illness.
Born Nov. 27, 1945, in Olean, NY, he was a son of Charles E. and Mildred Pellham Slaugenhaupt. On June 25, 1966, in Eldred, PA, he married Marilyn J. Wertz, who died Dec. 2, 2011.
Mr. Slaugenhaupt worked several years for Ethan Allen Furniture Co., Eldred, as a forklift driver, before his retirement.
He was a member of the Port Allegany Senior Center. He enjoyed hunting & fishing and anything outdoors. He also enjoyed playing cards.
Surviving are a son, Joseph P. (Tammy) Slaugenhaupt, Jr. of Bradford, two daughters, Tammy L. Slaugenhaupt of Port Allegany, and Sussie A. (Caleb) Slaugenhaupt-Hitt of Marietta, OH; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; a brother, Chester E. (Sylvia) Slaugenhaupt of Mt. Jewett, PA; three sisters, Carol L. (Jack) Compton, and Betty L. Shaw both of Kane, PA, and Donna M. (Dan) Causer of Eldred; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marilyn, three brothers, Robert, Richard and Charles Slaugenhaupt.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday (Oct. 29, 2012) with Rev. Michael Culver, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Port Allegany, officiating. Burial will be in Lamphier Cemetery, Eldred.
