John M. Glasgow
PORT ALLEGANY- John M. Glasgow, 91, formerly of Port Allegany and Wilmington, NC, passed away Monday (Oct. 24, 2016) in Sena Kean Manor, Smethport.
Born May 24, 1925, in Memphis, TN, he was a son of Berlin W. and Christina Taliaserro Glasgow. On Nov. 17, 1945, in Bristol, TN, he married Kathleen Carrier, who died Aug. 28, 2011. They were married 65 years.
Mr. Glasgow was a graduate of Brownsville High School, Browns-ville, TN.
John had been employed with the Atomic Energy Commission and later retired from General Electric of Wilmington, NC.
Surviving are two sons, John M. (Joyce) Glasgow, Jr. of Cleveland, OH, Gene W. (Barb) Glasgow of Port Allegany, PA; a daughter, Doris A. (Randall) Ganey of Bolivia, NC; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Ann Glasgow of Memphis, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Kathleen, a daughter, Karen Britt; and a sister, Laura McCarley.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, with Rev. Michael Culver, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Port Allegany, officiating. Burial will be in Oleander Memorial Gardens, Greenlawn Memorial Park, Wilmington, NC.
