Jeanne C. Buchanan
PORT ALLEGANY- Jeanne C. Buchanan, 72, of Benton Ave., passed away Friday (Dec. 16, 2016) in UPMC Hamot, Erie, PA.
Born August 7, 1944, in Olean, NY, she was a daughter of Harold E. and Ruth L. Prindle Chapin. On Aug. 7, 1968, in Port Allegany, she married John J. Buchanan, who survives. They were married 48 years.
Jeanne was a longtime resident of Coudersport, and Port Allegany and a graduate of Port Allegany High School, class of 1962.
Mrs. Buchanan was a member of the First Baptist Church of Port Allegany, and the Baptist Women, volunteer with the Port Allegany Senior Center, and a former member of the Red Hats Ladies, Coudersport chapter.
Surviving in addition to her husband, John, are two sons, Matthew P. (Sue) Buchanan of Portland, OR, John M. (Kristi) Buchanan of Mooresville, NC; two daughters, Jennifer R. (Collin) Buchanan-Hilliard of Austin, TX, and Amy J. (Chris) Haverstick of Dillsburg, PA; five grandchildren: Bret Buchanan, Hannah Buchanan, Andrew Buchanan, Kyle Haverstick and Ethan Haverstick; and a sister, Cathy R. (David) Causer of Turtlepoint; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Monday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany; and noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. with Rev. Michael Culver, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
Memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church or the Port Allegany Senior Center.
