Jean E. Mallery
PORT ALLEGANY- Jean E. Mallery, 75, of Route 155, went to be with her Heavenly Father, Friday (June 28, 2013) in Presque Isle Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Erie. Jean’s strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and supporters, carried her through the last two years of her life.
Born September 24, 1937, in Colchester, NY, she was a daughter of Paul A. and Whilomena E. O’Dell Wormuth.  On December 4, 1955, in Hancock, NY, she married her high school sweetheart John L. Mallery, who survives. They were married 57 years.
Surviving in addition to her husband, John, are three sons, Paul E. (Tina) Mallery of Hudsonville, MI, Michael T. (Cris) Mallery of Kane, Javan A. (Francine) Mallery of Dorr, MI; two daughters, Elizabeth M. (Sonnie) Brockwell of Beloit, WI, Margaret I. Mallery and chosen daughter, Jamie L.  McKenzie both of Cranberry Township, PA; 13 grandchildren: Michael, Alixandra, Paul (Mia) John (Rachael), Philip, Alexis, Ashlyn, Maggie, Anna, Javan, Kate, and Chase; 6 great grandchildren: Brayden, Gracie Jean, Baileigh, Preston, Kaden, and Lexi.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, John A. Mallery.
Possessing a true servant’s heart, Jean, faithfully cared for family and friends while being a principal, teacher, and mentor at Myrtle Tabernacle Academy, Shinglehouse. After retirement, she continued to be a woman of faith, a “mother of Israel” and the heart of the Mallery family. She shaped lives by her tireless Godly example, and through various church, school, prayer groups and activities. With an enthusiasm for life, Jean loved to pray, write, read, sing, entertain, and play games. Many times she would break out in singing if she heard a phrase that would remind her of a hymn or song. She was well known as a prayer warrior with a gift of intercession and discernment.
Her Christ centered faith and generous spirit won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith.
Her compassionate, caring, giving personality and ability to lift spirits will be greatly missed.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday (July 3, 2013) in the First Church of God, Eldred, with Rev. James Kazimer, pastor, and Rev. Paul Caram, pastor of the Zion Christian Assembly, Ulysses, co-officiating. Burial will be in the Mallery family cemetery, Port Allegany.
Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
