Jay I. McGee, Sr.
ROULETTE- Jay I. McGee, Sr., 88, of Burleson Ave., passed away Monday (Sept. 25, 2017) in Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport.
Born June 15, 1929, in Betula, PA, he was a son of Gerald G. and Anna B. Leonard McGee. On Jan. 11, 1956, in Frederick, MD, he married Lorraine E. Henry, who died 9/23/2003. On Feb. 7, 2008, in Coudersport, he married Marion “June” Wright, who died 11/5/2013.
Mr. McGee had worked for North Penn Gas Co., Port Allegany, for many years, retiring in 1995.
Jay was a veteran of WWII, having served in the US Navy.
He was a lifetime resident of the area and attended Smethport High School.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting & fishing. He enjoyed visiting the girls at Drabee’s, but most of all he enjoyed his family.
Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Julie K. McGee of Roulette, two granddaughters, Amanda Edler and Jaden McGee, and a grandson, Jason McGee; 8 great-grandchildren: Brie, Rylee, Olivia, Emileigh, Kaitlyn, Drayden, Jayce, and Rennie; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, Lorraine and Marion, a son, Jay I. McGee, Jr, who died Jan. 26, 2016, four brothers, Francis, Kenneth, Harold, and Gerald McGee; five sisters, Kathryn Prosser, Margaret Kinney, Helen Campbell, Lenora Laschesky, and Maude Murphy.
Friends will be received from 10- 11 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 7, 2017) in the Switzer Funeral Home, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Randall Headley, officiating.
