Jane B. Raymond
SMETHPORT-Jane B. Raymond, 92, of Emerald Isle, passed away Thursday (Feb. 12, 2015) in the Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport.
Born Oct. 18, 1922, in Smethport, she was a daughter of Edwin and Mary Nord Lindholm. On Dec. 30, 1946, in Smethport, she married Richard G. “Pitt” Raymond, who died Mar. 7, 2002. On July 10, 2010, in Smethport, she married Clyde Raymond, who survives.
Jane was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of the Smethport Area High School, Class of 1940, where she was salutatorian.
She worked for Helms Co. of both Smethport and Bradford and later with Joel Anderson, CPA, as an accounting clerk, before her retirement.
Mrs. Raymond was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church of Smethport, where she was the church organist for many years. She was a member of the Smethport Country Club and the Couples League; Women’s Wednesday Card Club at the Smethport Country Club, McKean County Historical Society and helped with Meals on Wheels. Having lost her parents at an early age, her faith and family were most important.
Surviving are three sons, Paul E. (Gail) Raymond and Kurt J. (Janel) Raymond both of Smethport, Mark R. (Mary) Raymond of Chandler, AZ; a daughter, Mary Lee (Leroy) Lucas of Harrisburg, PA; 12 grandchildren: Christopher, Joshua, and Jennifer Lucas, Barry, Justin and Jonah Raymond, Jason, Collin, and Angala Raymond, Abigail Raymond, Jacquie, and Julia Raymond; 8 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Beth DiFonzo of Lewis Run; two stepsons, Robert (Sherri) Raymond, and Donald Raymond both of Scottsdale; a step daughter, Joann Raymond of Scottsdale, AZ; and three step-grandchildren, Tim, Jason, and Ryan Woodruff; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, a son, Todd A. Raymond, a sister, Connie Raszmann and a brother, John V. Lindholm.
Friends will received from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Monday (Feb. 16, 2015) in the St. Elizabeth’s Social Hall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary with Rev. Vince Cieslewicz, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth’s Cemetery, Smethport.
Memorials can be made to the St. Elizabeth’s Building Fund or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
