James D. “Slim” Gordon
PORT ALLEGANY- James D. “Slim” Gordon, 85, of Pearl St., passed away Monday (Dec. 14, 2020) in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport.
Born July 13, 1935, in Clairton, PA, he was a son of John E. and Hazel Large Gordon. On August 23, 1958, in Roulette, PA, he married Beverly A. McAlpine, who died Aug. 17, 2012. They were married 53 years.
James was employed with North Penn Gas Co. as a welder and mechanic, retiring in 1997, after 29 years of service.
He was a veteran having served with the US Army, from June 1958 to June 1960.
James was a member of the Allegheny Mountain Engine & Implement Association of Port Allegany, National Rifle Association, and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.
Surviving are two sons, Michael J. (Linda) Gordon and John W. Gordon both of Port Allegany; a daughter, Julie A. Bond of Lee Summit, MO; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Christian Bee, a brother, Erdmund “Dewey” Gordon, and a sister, June Blazer.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Due to the pandemic circumstances, a celebration of life service will be held at a later time and place to be announced.
