James B. Spiegel
PORT ALLEGANY-James B. Spiegel, 84, of Pine Grove Rd., passed away Wednesday (Feb. 27, 2013) in Lakeview Senior Care & Living Center, Smethport.
Born September 11, 1928, in Bradford, PA, he was a son of James A. and Edna Barton Spiegel. On June 3, 1950, in Diamond, PA, he married Janet A. Billsborough, who died May 12, 2002.
Mr. Spiegel had worked for Pittsburgh Corning Co., Port Allegany, as a machine operator, in the foam glass department, for 35 years retiring in 1985.
He was a veteran having served in the US Army.
James was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of Port Allegany High School, Class of 1946.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed a lifelong hobby of making maple syrup.
Surviving are three sons, Charles E. (Suzanne) Spiegel of Turtlepoint, Kenneth J. (Mary Ellen) Spiegel of Joliet, IL, Daniel E. Spiegel of Port Allegany; two daughters, Patricia E. Luke of Smethport, and Barbara E. (Wayne) Wright of Port Allegany; 12 grandchildren, and 18 great-grand-children; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Janet, a son, James E. Spiegel, two daughters, Carolyn Louise Cochran, and Cheryl Lynn Spiegel; a brother, David Spiegel, and a sister, Janet E. Ostrander.
Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Friday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (Mar. 2, 2013) with Rev. James Kazimer, pastor of the First Church of God, Eldred.
