Howard N. LEWIS, 92, of Coudersport PA, passed away Monday, September 18, 2023 in Sweden Valley Manor.
Born November 13, 1930, in Harrison Valley, he was the son of Arthur L. and Helena R. Van Pelt Lewis. On March 30, 1951, in Mills, he married the former Mary Lou Reynolds, who predeceased him on September 21, 2019. A Korean War Veteran, he served honorably with the U.S. Army from 1952-1954. He was employed by Consolidated Natural Gas company for 32 years, retiring in 1986. Howdy was a member of the Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Co., the Gospel Tabernacle in Coudersport, and served on the board of directors of the Northern Tier Children’s Home in Harrison Valley. He was an avid outdoorsman and baseball fan. He loved spending time in the woods hunting or on his favorite fishing streams testing the waters. Howdy’s enjoyment of baseball stemmed from playing the game he loved, to coaching countless youth, to watching his Pirates.
Surviving are: three children, Debora (Richard) Cowburn of Coudersport, Vanessa (Bradley) Nortum Sr. of Wilcox, and Kevin N. (Sarah) Lewis of Aurora CO; three grandchildren, Chad (Rachel) Cowburn, Mathew (Crissy) Cowburn, and Daniel (Julia) Lewis; six great-grandchildren, Evan, Mackenzie, Maddyson, Joshua, Braeden, and Rory; nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by four brothers, Richard W. Lewis, William Lewis, Ralph Lewis, and Kenneth Lewis; and a sister, Helen J. Lampman.
A private funeral will be held at OLNEY-FOUST Funeral Homes & Crematory, Ulysses PA. Burial will be in Mills Cemetery.
