Belmont, NY: Homer R. Doty, 90, of Feathers Creek Road passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville following a brief illness.  He was born May 29, 1931 in Greenwood, the son of the late Ariel and Bertha Mae (Edwards) Doty. On October 5, 1951 in Belmont he married Karol Kurtz who survives. In October Homer and Karol would have celebrated their 70th anniversary.

Homer was raised in Greenwood until his family moved to Belmont in 1941. He was a graduate of Belmont Central School, and served two years with the U.S. Army. He was formerly employed at Acme Electric in Cuba, Borden Dairy in Belmont, and for 28 years for the U.S. Postal Service in Belmont, including 14 years as Postmaster. He retired in 1986. After retiring Homer and Karol spent 13 winters at their home in Lady Lake, Florida. He was a member of the Belmont First United Methodist Church, the Scio Rod and Gun Club, the Wellsville Moose Lodge #601, and the Federal and State Postmaster's Association. He was a member and Past Commander of the Herbert Delong American Legion Post 808 in Belmont, and a member and past treasurer of the Belmont Rotary Club for many years. Homer enjoyed gardening, hunting, and spending time watching wildlife from his cabin in the woods.

Surviving in addition to his wife, is a daughter Jane Spencer of Cummings, GA; son, Timothy (Roseann) Doty of Port Charlotte, FL; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Kurt Doty, two brothers, Francis and Herman Doty, and five sisters, Bertha Brown, Shirley Cannioto, Ruth Deats, his twins, Leah Nesbit and Lena Fuller.
